hmm recently there was a problem with my service indicator light on my 05 where i only had less than a thosand miles and the yellow and red light was showing. I brought it to the dealer and they said there was a problem with it and they changed something.. not reseting it. Now i have 7000 miles and i still have full green bar.

Hey 94502.....I have the same problem. I just bought my 05 X5 4.4 couple weelks ago with less than 1000 miles and the yellow/red light is already on. The SA said this was unusual. Have an appt to have it fix this Sat.
What did they do to your car? will this affect the regular maintainance at 15,000? TD |

My SA tells me that BMW will pay for the oil service if you have one green light left. You do NOT have to have the yellow light -- only ONE green light remaining is good enough. A dealer that tells you that is simply either ignorant, or is trying to put you off for whatever reason. Call your SA and ask him/her to double-check that policy. If they have any questions, tell them to call Hendrick BMW in Charlotte, NC.

My dealer is fine with an oil change when I am down to one green light, OR at the time interval, independent of the service lights. Given my low annual mileage, I always hit the time interval first.
For BMW Canada, I am told that it is 12 months for the first oil change from new, and then every 14 months after that, or the service light indicator, whichever comes first.

I don't have the premium package...so I only have one button on the left side of the instrument cluster. - key off and holding left button on cluster => "Odometer" is turned on and displayed. - turn key to first position with cluster button held => "reset" is display. - continues holding button => "rE SIA 730" is displayed...the "INSPECTION" light is also turned on along with 2 green bars. So...does this mean that I'll need to consume 730 liters of fuel prior to INSPECTION? I'm assuming it's 730 liters til the yellow bar? Or is it the red bar? |

500 liters = 132 gallons
132 gallons x 17 miles per gallon = 2244 miles So by the time you get to the first annual X5 meet, your yellow light will be on
