P0419 error code

Does anyone know what I need to do to clear this code?

P0419 = The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for relay "B" of the secondary air injection system.

I use a K&N filter and have read some posts that this could be the cause. I really don't feel like spending tons a money if this is the cause.

Thanks in advance,
Kurt

That is a fuel system error, EVAP Vent Valve is common. You have to much or to little vacuum in the fuel system. What engine?

Ok before you do nuts looking for the leak can you reset the code? if so reset it and check your gas cap. Make sure the seal is tight and the cap is on correctly, then see if it comes back.

You need a scan/reset tool to do it yourself. I think most auto parts stores will reset the light. If the code was due to a leaky fuel cap it will automatically reset after around 20-30 cycles.

Thanks

So SES will reset after "20-30 cycles." sorry ... what does that mean? The 20-30 cycles and how long does that take?

I will check my cap tonight and then wait for "20-30 cycles."

How do you know all this stuff?

Again - thanks a lot.

It worked !!

After filling up the tank and closing the cap again ... the SES light went out. Thanks.

Why would this cause a secondary air filter error?

Thanks in advance,
Kurt
