The analog ones won't work after the big switch on February 2009 =). Digital ballasts just don't have any of the usual capacitors. Instead these ballasts have electronic circuitry doing the same job more efficient
using less current. It just means it's able to adjust the amount of power sent to the bulb accordingly. Most if not all the ballast out now are digital.

There seems to be a bunch of people happy with theirs so for $70(I bought the DDM 55w), I might as well try.

Yes....we paid some cash..but you get digital ballasts and excellent hid's............it's worth the money.....

Watch out for the 40.00 kits.....ballsts go quickly and the hid's themselves..may not last that long......there are abunch of threads on that! Let me know if you need any help!

Mohammad has some nice lookin pics here!

Rich
Rich don't get me wrong. I just somewhat agree and disagree on your comment. I think there are two kinds of HID sets, OEM and aftermarket. OEM ones are always the best but that does not mean it won't break. That was my first choice but my main concern(other than price) was replacing it if it does go bad plus I will have to add a relay anyways. Most aftermarket ones are made in China and are very similar in design. Some people are skeptical about this. There is a video/thread in bimmerforums where DDM opened up a bunch of kits to prove just that. You could probably call them up and send in your brand for comparison if you want to. They will replace it of course. Price difference may or may not be appealing to some but Apexcone is Apexcone and Prolumen is Prolumen, etc. Prolumens were real popular in bimmerforums and selling for $300 a pop. When one vendor sold those for $99, the other vendor try to counter by selling it for buy one get one free. We're getting to a point where you wonder how much these are really worth. I have no affiliation whatsoever with any vendors so I hope I don't sound like I am being biased. I think as long as you are happy with the customer service(which you don't get on ebay normally) and know the company is legit then you should go for it.

Well ... looks like I'm gonna be a guinea pig too!

Ordered the 35W ($40+$15 shipping). Will post pics once installed.

Do you have projecors in yours?! Oh oh ... maybe I need to buy projecors too?! Maybe I can fabricate/buy some shielding to use as a permanent shutter ...

yeah i do. maybe you can find some alternative though.. I mean with the projectors there is still somewhat of a glare, and they are VERY bright.

Very bright ... Hahahaha! Yeah, I can see they are.

Lemme get em in and see what happens. I'll try and adjust the fogs to point further down first. If that doesn't work ... another DIY!
