You used the HID kit to upgrade your headlights/mainbeams? I thought you mentioned this previously. However, I discounted it because when I saw your car it looks like it already has the stock xenons.

What year is your car, looks like a 04+.

Mohammad ... I hear ya.

However, my expectation was based on pics I had seen previously on this forum. Most of those pics showed them pretty much glowing.

The pics with the whole front end showing WITH flash (first couple of pics) IMO more accurately reflects the true brightness - both of the AIBs and the ebayers.

The close-ups of only the headlights WITHOUT flash is what I was expecting - but again these are over-exposed (not sure of the right term). So, these pics are NOT showing the true intensity of the bulbs.

I have an 04 facelifted. It has projectors but came with halogens. I only upgraded the low beams. OEM I believe are bi-xenons. Halogens use the inner lamps for high beams and flashing. The HIDs made a huge difference and I'm sure the fogs will too.

Thanks for letting me know about the fog assembly. I'll probably know exactly what you are talking about when I actually install mine.

Oh OK .. I didn't know projectors came in halogen too. I just know my OEM bi-xenons use the xenons for both low-beam and high-beam. That's why I was confused.

Here's a pic of the non-projector fogs - no cap (notice they're shorter too):

Here's the projector type with cap (and longer):

So, you upgraded your main-beams (low beams) with HID not your fogs like I did, right? I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Maybe there's a difference in stock wattage for your headlights vs the fogs? Could that be a factor? I think they sell larger gauge wiring harnesses supposedly to eliminate problems for the 55W version:

"HID Accessory Harness:
Use this relay harness to connect HIDs to cars with very small gauge wiring that cannot supply the initial surge current required to light the bulbs reliably. Symptoms indicating the harness is required would be intermittant starting or lights going out after being turned on for several minutes and requiring you to turn the lights off and back on for them to turn back on again.

Recommended for all 50W HID installations but most American and European cars work at 35W/50W without the harness. The harness is definitly recommended for Quad's and other ATVs or when running multiple HID installtions. This harness is a fused relay isolation harness capable of supplying 40A at 12vdc"

I don't know for sure but I think you should call them (like I did). Explain the problem and see what they say. They should know their kits better than us.

Good luck getting it resolved and update us.
Actually, mine fires up..but just not immediately..Meaning if you start up the car, I would say perhaps 5 secs..i can turn the lights on..so i guess thats normal..

but if i were to start car and immediately try to turn on headlights it would not light up...

so Mister2 - can you let me know if you get that?

but other than that...everything is fine..

So 04+ face lifted X5's didn't come with projectors? I see what you are talking about now. If it's just a simple plug and play, that should be that bad of an install.

I get what you are saying. I'm not sure why it does not fire up right away though. My guess is that there is a delay on powering the ballast. I don't think it should be like that. I'd say give DDM a call. They should know better and will replace the ones you have if they are defective.
