Adaptive headlights

I got an 04 3.0 with adaptive headlights and I took it back to the dealer because it only moves to the right. The dealer said its normal. Is it really?

my guess is that if the headlights turned left, you could blind up coming trafic.

They should turn to the left too, but only while driving. When you're parked, they only move to the right.

From page 104 of the 2005 X5 Owner's Manual:

is active only when pointing toward the passenger side.
