ISSUES WITH MY 4.4I 04 X5. !!PLZ HELP!!

I own a 2004 4.4i X5 and it suddenly started acting up. when driving at a slow speed or when my car is in park position it just shuts down for no apparent reason and i have to start the car again. Also when driving at speed of 60 or so my car does this really crazy jump where i have to push my breaks so i dont hit the car infront of me. i took it to two different bmw specialist and they did a dygnose and nothing came up and all was good, just few codes and they cleared it but it didnt change nothing. couple times when driving all the lights on my cluster came on and i got the message saying " Transmission & Engin safe fail program" i shut down my car for 15 minutes and start it again and all goes off. I would appreciate if someone had experienced the same or if could tell me what to do??? thanx in advance guys.

With a problem like that you should just bite the bullet and bring it to the dealer... I know I've heard the dealers in Canada aren't great and are overpriced, but by the time you find an indy that can properly diagnose this (which would take the proper equiptment that can rear ALL the modules) you could have paid for the dealers diagnosis twice!

Thanks man i guess i didnt write it properly. one of those places i went to was the dealer. they said just drive it and see what happens since everything is working fine but it really isnt!! its really frustrading at this point. money is not the issue now, only if i know what the problem was

By chance do you have a copy of what fault codes it had? Maybe a copy of the diagnostic report?

And I used the VHT Niteshades on the tail lights

No they didnt give me a print out but they said the code was for my crank shaft bank 1 and bank 2 sensor. they checked it and it was working fine. I dont know why it just started acting up. ive had the car for one year now and nothing like this happened before!

There is only one crank sensor, but the cam sensors are for intake and exhaust, banks 1 and 2... so 1 crank sensor, 4 cam sensors. And those sensors are the first things that popped in my head when I read the description! When they are going out, they act up at times and act normally at times. I'd call your SA and have him fax you a copy of the fault printouts and have those sensors replaced wherever you trust or DIY if you have the tools and are comfortable doing it. I'd just be sure to use OEM sensors as the new ones are updated and don't give any problems, and the aftermarket ones are kinda crappy.
