Just got the X5 back from the dealer...

What we thought was like a one day visit for warranty work turned into 11 days due to delays ordering parts... At least I got a 2008 328xi coupe as a loaner car, replaced by a 535xi with a manual for the weekend...

The short list: replacing wood trim on console, peeling steering wheel finish, replacing the ENTIRE pano roof assembly, new Sirius antenna, new rear wiper arm, new front bushings, reflashing tranny software, new mirror motors (due to not folding issue), ordered all 4 new interior door handles due to peeling finish...

The grand total billed to BMW NA under warranty: $8,635.00!!! Holy crap!! It's going to be a merry Christmas for my service advisor..

FYI

CO lemon law coverage, repair interval and coverage period:

A self-propelled private passenger vehicle, including pickup trucks and vans, designed primarily for travel on the public highways and used to carry not more than 10 persons. Excludes motor homes and motorcycles.

4 repair attempts or 30 business days out of service.

Warranty period or 1 year.

... I wouldn't call waiting for interior trim panels anything to worry about for lemon law. But if they have the vehicle for 30 days or more for a problem they can't fix, then the dealer has to do a buy back it the customer pushes the issue. And that time doesn't count if it is due to waiting for parts to be ordered from Germany or waiting for customer approval for something.

But sounds like you had quite a bit of work done over them 11 days! And a manual trans 535xi, That had to be a fun loaner!

Not there yet... I just bought the car and went through it making note of all the little things it needed done under warranty (as it's running out shortly)...

BMW in west palm beach refused to cover my steering wheel peeling. The service manager claimed it was wear and tear.

We always cover that... No questions asked! I have changed the same parts on certain cars a few times a year with people that wear lots of rings.

Thats right, BMW warranty covers EVERYTHING, I have them replace all panels in my interior that had a scratch even a small tear in the vanity mirror, shifter and e-brake boot door handle etc. no questions asked, they replaced it. I mean my interior looks like its brand new, northcounty BMW is the BEST.
