When's a good time to replace belts/hoses?
 I've noticed that there are a bunch of smaller hoses besides the usual upper/lower main hoses - should the smaller ones be replaced as well or am I asking for trouble? I have a great Indy in my area and just want to be sure what belts/hoses should be replaced before I bring her in and they go nuts replacing everything if it's not necessary.

Just about all of the hoses have plastic ends, which is how I judge when to change for preventative maintenance. When the hose part gets old/weak, coolant will start seeping out of the ends past the clamps leaving a white residue. And when the plastic ends get old/weaker, they start changing color to more of a brownish color.
The belt, just look for when the ribs are cracking. The main drive belt usually starts going well before the ac belt.
