I drove a Cayenne Turbo yesterday...quick in a straight line but like others note, it feels heavier and less responsive than the X5. That's really no suprise considering that the Cayenne weighs some 600 lbs more. I would definitely prefer the 4.8is to the Cayenne turbo, although the 4.8is needs a supercharger.

Interior of the turbo I drove was nicer than I expected with leather and a nice LCD screen on the gauges. Still, the exterior is so ugly I just cant go for it.

I also had a Cayenne turbo try to mess with me a few months ago when I was in Mammoth. From a low-speed roll he pulled away slowly...not as quickly as I thought he would. On the other hand, at speed I'm sure he'd have left me for dead. The salesman at the BMW/Porsche dealership yesterday told me that the Cayenne turbo will run door to door with a 911 carrera S at highway speeds...until at least 140. I dont know if this is true, but he told me that was from personal experience.

And I thought way back before they built the 4.8 that it would come with a 399HP engine. That would have been the "SUV" hands down, a naturally aspirated monster. Hehehe. Anywho, the bmw's are on a league of their own and I'm glad and lucky enough to sit and drive in one.

The Cayenne vs the X5 4.8is comparo has been beaten and there are some good posts on this board by SteveD and rgnbull on it.

I have been thinking about this looking at comparables. OK I've heard the Cayenne Turbo can be tuned up to +550HP for $$$ and add some aerodyn body kits ($$$) it won't look so lexus/toyota RAV looking. With that can the X5 4.8 still compare? A friend of mine own a X5 then traded in it for a Cayenne and he said the throttle response was delayed which made him crazy...he ended up buying another X5 4.4. I'm still doing the research becuz I might ending up going to the Dark Side!!!!

You can take a Cayenne and put a TecArt package and it makes it look great. But the entire package costs around $30K. The Brabus store in the Newport Beach area off the 405 does it. I saw a black Cayenne Turbo that had the entire package at the Brabus store, started drooling.
My dad went from a 4.6is to a Cayenne Turbo and loved it. The speed in that thing was ridiculous, I actually didn't feel too safe driving it in case I pushed too hard on the gas.

I just checked their site and price. A full techart package (+600HP) would run +50K.
