X5 Electronics having trouble in the Cold
Hello All:
I has been really cold in Boulder, CO for the last few weeks and my 2003 3.0 X5 has been relagated to sitting outside after I got a new 2008 335xi a few months ago. The car has been starting fine (though I do get a belt whine right at first even though they are 6 weeks old), but I have noticed three things. 1) The poplar trim has cracked in one area. I know there is not a lot I can do about this. 2) The folding mirrors will no longer stay folded when you push the button. and 3) The steerling wheel will not go up or down very much. 1/2"-3/4". Motor still actuates but won't go up or down in full motion. Everything worked just fine 6 weeks ago when the car was in for inspection II ar 67,000 miles, but now that it got cold it seems like the electronics have a gremlin. I was thinking of disconnecting the battery tonight and hopefully resetting the computer but that is just a shot in the dark. I wouldn't think two seemingly unrelated items would go bad at the same time so my thought is the computer is locking things out or is confused because of the cold.... Any thoughts? Thanks, Kevin |
