Yupp, except a lot of ppl have the ticking noise coming from the left of the temp display when the ignition is off.

Yes, I can hear the fan running, no I cannot feel air from the vents and yes I do have battery drain issues.

I'd check the FSR first as it isn't hard to do.

a bad FSR can give multiple symptoms. I had similar symptoms, I replaced the FSR and it fixed it.

You guys rock! Bad FSR was causing my fan to intermittently run when the X was off and overnight it would drain the (brand new) battery enough that it wouldn't start in the morning. Two days of that was enough and I swapped out the FSR (around $115 for the part with BMW CCA discount) and she's all better! Thank God for X5 World!
I'm small (5'8" and like 130 lbs wet) and was pretty easily able to remove my old style FSR without removing the glove box. I was actually surprised how well the swap went
