2005 X5 4.4 Problem
Hi, i have 2005 4.4 X5 with 37,000 kilometers. A couple of times now when I try to start the car it just keeps cranking and wont start. I keep trying and after 3-4 atempts it starts. It does not do this all the time, it has happend twice so far, once in the morning and once in gthe afternoon. Any idea why this is happening?

could be bad gasoline or vacuum leak or many many other things. do you have error codes??? It should still be under manufacturer's warranty.

Mine did that when the CPS (Cam Positioning Sensor) was failing. Installed new CPS (20 min DIY) and it's worked fine ever since.
Edit: Going back over my notes on the issue, as I did this a long while ago, I noted that there are 2 CPS units on a 4.4, one intake and one exhaust. My issue was resolved with the replacement of the intake side. Good Luck! -J Last edited by Phyber0ptik; 01-04-2009 at 07:18 PM. |
