light condensation

So my left head light has condensation fogging it, detracting from how sexy my lights look now, does anyone have exp. fixing this without having to take out the whole light assembly.

I tried using a hairblow dryer and made my own funnel that ended up into a straw that i stuck into the assembly whole for the wiring, which as expecting didnt really work.

Any Ideas??

well, i had the same situation. however, i had to take the headlight off then sealed it with silicone...never have a problem so far

I had condensation in the fall. I let it sit outside in direct sunlight - the moisture vaporized and disappeared. It has not returned. Maybe it went into my oil separator and froze. :P

I used the method in the X5world home page under "lights." I used a regular vacuum cleaner (with hose). I had to rig up some PVC conduit or pipe with a 90 degree elbow and some foam insulating tape to get a good seal on both ends of the pipe. I left it going for 40-60 minutes, and it worked great. It helps to have the headlight in the sun to put the condensation back to vapor form. This will only get the water out. You will still have issues unless the whole thing is sealed back up. Mine is a 2001 and I never had a problem with condensation until I took it through the car wash last week. Good luck!

Simply x. I recently changed car washes. Now I get water inside right headlight after each wash. I have opened(baked in oven) and resealed but water still gets inside. I guess now my only hope is to seal with silicone. Any suggestions on what type of silicone sealant? Maybe I can float them in the bathtub to check for leaks

Both my lights fogged up since they were new but only when it rains. I attributed it to the excellent build quality of BMW. SA says its normal.

I had same problem on 1 of mine headlight, went thru a car wash and noted that my headlight looks like a well full of water.
Try the hair dryer and it did not work.So i remove the hi-beam bulb and use the little fan then let it flow air thru it for about two hours ,i came back to the car after that all the water and condensation is GONE.

Seal with silicon. I did both of mine.

I brought mine in to Prestige BMW in Ramsey NJ, not too far from NYC, and they replaced the drivers side first, then a few weeks later this brand new headlight along with the passenger side fogged up once again and they just replaced the set. They also told me I have a 2 yr warranty on these so if anything happens such as the condensation they will replace them.

Id give them a call and setup an appointment. That is not normal and its not something you can fix yourself as the face lift headlights are fully sealed with a more permanent type of sealant.

Fixed!!!! A bead of Dap silicone around the headlight seal and now dry as a bone. It appears there is a design issue. There is a spot were water can get in the headlight from the gap between hood and side panel. There is a rubber flap that does not seal very well and it will not keep out large amounts of water.
