Code: "Stop! Oil Press" then "Check engine oil"
So....I know the obvious meaning to this code would be an oil pressure problem. Wife called and asked me what she should do. Anyone ever see this? 2005 4.4. She indicates the gauge was in the middle as usual.

Dunno what "gauge was in the middle as usual"...you mean.
My first pick is check the oil and top off a couple of qts, as necessary, allowing for drain time. My next pick is the crank vent regulator clogged or giving up...a much nastier situ, and probably requiring a tow. Something beyond that means Hell's A Poppin... GL,mD

Check the oil level...top it off if its low.. Check the bottom of the car to see if its leaking oil, or check to see if you can smell oil burning anywhere with the hood popped after a drive...

Yeah, I'll check this out when she gets home. I'll ask that she keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge to make sure it is showing pressure. No oil on the ground that she was able to see.

You have an oil pressure gauge?
Sounds like you ran out of oil (no pressure), although there is a level switch that should have alerted her. She appears to be keeping an eye on the coolant temperature gauge (the one that stays in the middle).

That's what I wondered about...OilPress gauge?! At least the good news is the off/on/bad news settings on the temp gauge stayed in the good "on" position. |

Oh crap. You guys are right. That is coolant. I was thinking of my other car. OK. Now I'm more concerned. I wonder if I could manage to explain to my wife how to check the oil. Wish me luck.

Have your wife roll into a gas station; even the wackos in the NoSelfPump
state can probably pull the stick and check it...my guess is that it's bone freakin dry and needs at least 2 qts of synthetic, which the station may or may not have, and they will rip her on price. But, it gets her home. If it is the crankvent/oil reg situ, she may not get home... Good Luck. |

She won't even start it up if there is no oil showing on the stick.
