Non OEM from Advanced Auto B&M was $70 per axle drop shipped to my door.
Over 10 000 miles on them. No problems. So $70 for shaft and $70 labor is very reasonable.

Are you sure you got a whole new axle for $70? That price sounds more like just the CV joint.

Out of curiosity to check how much of an increase from a year ago I called Advanced Auto and price is $69 and $74.

Previously in my other (older non-BMW) cars, I have had a good experience with aftermarket CV axles... no difference in performance or noise or etc. was noticed when I switched from OEM to aftermarket ones.
Other than the obvious OEM is a better fit and better overall, is there any specific reason people choose to go with OEM CV axles on the X?? |

I'm sure you do. Frankly whatever parts you use to fix your car are your business. My point was that it didn't sound like they used OE BMW parts or even OEM at that price.
