Aux Fan Cycling

2001 3.0 with 89k, original owner, replaced thermostat and water pump recently (preventative maintenance), as well as my aux fan which quit. New one works but I notice at idle, the fan will constantly turn on and off. On for about 30 seconds, off for 30 seconds (approx) over and over again. I leave the AC on all the time. I can can hear the aux fan turning on and off inside the cabin which is kind of annoying. Is there anything wrong or is this normal?

It seems like the fan would stay on longer and not constantly cycle as this would be less stressful on the fan and lead to a longer service life.....

TIA
