If somebody went to the trouble of covering the light then there obviously is a problem and it either was going to cost too much to rectify and was not impacting battery charging or it could not easily be found. The charge voltage is just a tad low. There is enough to charge the battery but not enough to drop the light. Most likely a faulty alternator regulator circuit. It should stay at 13.85V most all of the time for a Bosch. There was a way of boosting this published in Roundel some time ago. It involves putting a diode in circuit internally in the alternator which requires pulling and stripping the alternator. The extra 0.5V voltage drop across the diode SC junction fools the regulator resulting in a higher charge voltage across the battery. Somebody may actually have the article to hand or it may be online. Try a web search.

Taken the alternator off, and had it checked and the voltage regulator is faulty. So i am having a new fitted. Thanks for all the help
