Cold start problem x5 3.0i

Last few weeks my x5 doesn't start in the morning , it's freezing a few degree in the netherlands ( europe ).
It only happens with cold weather otherwise no problem ,the starter motor runs normally
I went to my BMW dealer and their diagnostic was a defect fuel pump.
They changed pump with no result ;also a new battery was placed but
problem remains the same .
I found on this site a few very detailed articles concerning the ignition
switch could this be the reason for this problem.
Is their a possiblity to check this switch or is the only way replacement.
Anyhow thanks for any information

best regards frans

Most likely not your ignition switch..You'd have electrical gremlins all over the place if it was..

I agree with Primetime. You may be referring to the DIY ignition switch replacement instructions that I posted. Though I was experiencing cold start issues, the guage cluster / electricals weren't working. Though I say this, I do remember when I started having the issue, the electronics would still display, however, as time went on (3 weeks), I lost the guage cluster. Hope this helps.

try a lower octane gas? I go from 93/91 to 87 in the winter cause it gets so cold that I need something that'll actually start.
