change tires

i planing to change my tires with some 255/50/18 0n my x5,3.0 2001.i know i have now17 '.the tire are with the rims

Those 255/50R18s, with appropriate wheels, will fit fine.
Style 69 wheel comes std with 255/55R18 tires.
Your rolling diameter will be reduced slightly, about 3.5%
and your speedo will be off a touch with the 50s vs 55s, however

He has 17"ers now and wants to change to 18"ers. He found rims and tires for $450. What type of wheels are they?
