Is there an echo in here these days? ...

Did you not like the responses you received the first time you posted the
same question?

Tire size is dependent upon wheel size, both diameter and width...
if you go with oem or close replica 18" wheels, then there are lots
of "standard" tire sizes available. Tell your friends they are mistaken;
an oem sized 18" wheel with appropriate tires will work very well
and your speedo won't know the difference. Same goes for 19" and
20", if sized correctly.

What wheels do you have?
check tirerack for other configurations that wont affect your odometer readings.

Put it this way, assuming you're not interested in changing your wheel size and you're getting 4 same sized tires:

You can change to different tire brands, widths and profiles to get the ride you're looking for. Like lower profile for quicker response but harsher ride. Or higher profile for a more comfortable ride.

In any case, if the tire diameter ends up being less or more than OEM - then your speedometer will be affected.

If you don't want to affect the speedometer, then you need to stick with OEM sized tires.

If you do decide to change your wheel size then you need to provide more information. As it is your question question is too general. Why don't you tell us exactly why you're considering a change in the first place - this will give us a clue.

For example, what do you mean by changing the tires to be better. Do you mean better handling for performance (usually comes with a less comfortable ride) or better as in more comfortable. Or better in certain situations, like better on dry pavement, in the rain, in the snow, etc.
