DSC Light (yellow) on

You got a new X5'er here and already got a little problem. 15 miles after picking up my '04 X5 (3.0) from the dealership, the DSC Light popped up on the instrument cluster. A text message also popped up saying that the Dynamic Stability Control is inactive. This light always pops up when I'm driving. Something wrong here?

Did someone turned it off? If you just bought it and there is a problem go spend a couple of the dealer's dimes and get it fixed.
And welcome to the board.

I had the same problem and the dealer replaced my steering sensor.

Angry Stealer suggestions

My local independent shop recommended taking car to dealer regarding dsc inactive light. He said that the wheel upgrade to 20 inch wheels caused a speed sensor warning. Once at the dealer, they said nothing could be done to correct the warning light. The dealer said that it would not hurt anything to drive the car this way. Very frustrating to always see this message just a mile down the road.

Nothing could be done?!?!?!? I'm calling bullshit on that. They must have been eaten up with the dumbass.

If you just bought it, and after about 15 miles the DSC light came on yellow... I would guess they did an alignment and didn't reset the steering angle sensor. If they had to straighten the steering wheel, the sensor may now be seeing the wheel at an angle, but the wheel speed sensors tell it it's going straight. That would cause a plausibility fault and the sensor would simply need to be re-calibrated. But only reading the fault codes could tell you for sure.

Either way the dealer should have absolutely no problem correcting this as you had it for 15 miles... Good luck and welcome to X5world!
