Ipoding my X5 in a strange way :p

I Ipoded my X5 using the cassette adapter (around 4$). The cable was removed, and instead, I welded the retractable cable of a mini-mouse in order to avoid the dangling cable, but keep the possibility of taking it of for searching (USB has 4 cables, hence the stereo is preserved)... now about the holder: it's an old Ipod cable connector that I cut, and i glued the cable cover from below to cover the remainder of the cable (after putting some paper inside, because the original cover is transparent). finally, how is the new holder attached to the air vent? well, i broke the holder of an air freshener, and super-glued it to the cable connector(holder) and I got myself a nice Ipod holder, and since the nano is sooo light, it holds really firm...

the sound quality turned out to be great!! Cristal clear, stereo, everything... with the DSP the result is magnificent... and the look is nice and neat (almost) and I can browse while leaving it as is, or take it of for better control then get it back without worrying about the cable, cause it is retractable....

what do you think??

That's freaking brilliant! I love it! I wish I had a cassette in my X. I had to go the DICE HD ipod route on mine - your solution could have saved me alot of money!

Looks like you are still running the pre-V17 version of the navigation OS. You might want to consider upgrading to 3-1/63 (V22 or higher OS disk) to get an updated interface. Note that you'll need the KeyCD as well, should you decide to do the update.

Nice job with the unique iPod interface

UCrew, well yeah, i thought about it, but i heard that i lose some functionality if i do it, radio with OBC, is that right? and then, anyway, i didn't want to mess things out...
oh and yes, the retractable mouse costs 6$ and the other items were old stuff for free (jack, ipod connector, air freshener clip...)

yes, you do lose having the OBC information displayed on the radio mode.

That's a nice idea, but you will have a problem with charging the iPod. You might drain the battery in long trips.

That's right issam... well, the nano battery lasts for 4 hours, and lebanon is small as u know, I can cross it end-to-end in less that 2 hours... so far, i am recharging it every week or so... worst case, you can keep an ipod car charger with you for long trips...
