Help a Noob out

Alright....can't say I'm happy about this in the least. I'm just hoping its something minor you guys can help me feel "better" about. What is your experience with oil leaks. Looked under the car and saw this. The oil pressure/warning light is not on, however I did check the dipstick and it seemed suprisingly dry. No issues with driveability, though I have obviously stopped until I can figure this out - vehicle is under warranty so its going back to the dealer.

Just an update for those interested. Dealer identified the problem as a leak from the oil pan gasket. Replaced the gasket and changed oil. Dealer said less than 1qt of oil was lost. Dealer checked the oil warning light to make sure it was operating correctly and it is. I was told it only comes on after 2 - 3 qts of oil are lost.

Glad to know it wasn't anything worse.....hopefully this will be my only "bad" experience with the vehicle. Needless to say it does have me questioning my purchase.

Also, in hindsight, I put too much faith in the dealer CPO checklist they presented when I was looking at the vehicle. For those in the market, I would suggest using this checklist as a method to do your own personal inspection on the vehicle you're looking at. Had I done this, I think I would have found this issue prior to purchase.

Anyway, I do enjoy the vehicle, and my dealer experience has been nothing less than pleasant, so in that regard BMW has given me no reason to doubt their confidence in their vehicles and in their commitment to service.
