E53 Toyo Proxes STII review

I bought a pair of 315/35/20 and 275/40/20 from www.TD4L.com for about $799 shipped and another $80 from a local shop for install on my 87's. I've put in 2700 miles since October. The X has gone through:

-Ice storm
-wet snow
-8" of snow
-wet road
-dry road

No problem there. I did have a hard time getting out of a spot with about a foot of blown snow. I was in a dead stop when that happened. I backed out a little and moved forward which was no problem. I didn't want to step on the gas much since there was a parked car next to me that was pretty close. Similar situation happened to my 18" Mich Energy in an unplowed lot once I stopped in the middle. It's not a dedicated snow tire but I'm confident driving 315's in the rear without sliding around in a heavy snow day.

I have not noticed any roaring noise. Hopefully that will never be a problem on the STII. The ride feels a stiffer, higher, looks better, and has about the same cabin noise as my worn out Mich Energy's had before I changed it. I don't have other tires to compare it with besides my Mich Energy's but that won't be a good comparison since they were 18's. I think it's a bang for the buck all season tires for those who get little to no snow in winter.

Thanks, Arjay! The X looks great!

Please keep us updated...especially after you cross the 10,000 mile mark. My Proxes S/T's (the original ones) are super noisy on dry pavement. I want to replace them with the S/T II's, but will wait to hear the reviews from fellow X5worlders.

No prob! I'm trying to hear for some loud noise by turning the radio off once in awhile but I just hear the typical road noise I heard before I switched tires. What kind of noise does it sound like? Is it like running over the guard/bumps on the side of the road? Hopefully I never hear them.

towne faire tire price matches

I used Tires4Less advertised web price and then went to TF's website to beat the competitor's price

I have had the TOYOs on for 2 weeks and today is the second snow storm. So far, so good - nice performance on snow covered, icey conditions

I'll watch out for that noise and keep everybody updated when it hits the 10,000 mile mark.

How much did you end up paying shipped if you don't mind me asking? TD4L was the cheapest I found in the internet and I think I found out about them here as well.

Towne Faire matched the price including the shipment charge that would have been incurred thru TD4L. Charge $20 - wheel mount, balance, 4 wheel alignment.
So we are at the same cost basically give a take 10 or 20 bucks

Enjoy your STII's
