Where Did All My Oil Go??

Just had my valve cover gasket replaced yesterday, today I am having my oil seperator valve and hoses replaced with the insulated parts and my oil changed. When my tech was replacing my gasket he noticed "cheese" on my valves, he then checked my oil and said I was 3 quarts low. He didnt notice that much oil in my engine compartment. Could this oil be in my cylinders, anything I can do to check if I have oil in my cylinders. I bought the car from a guy in New York, I live in cincinnati Ohio... Any suggestions I am open to anything. Thanks!!

I have similar problem... After every oil change, within couple of month I get oil light on. I took it to couple of different mechanic's they told me there is no sign of leak...

Recently I've been noticing oil burning smells.

So strange... So I always have quarts of oil in my trunk.

Anyone have similar problem?

There could be some oil in your cylinders...But the burning oil smell is usually associated with some sort of small leak from my experience... The X can leak a little oil out of the valve cover gasket for a while and the oil won't leak all the way to the ground, it will get caught somewhere and not leak from the bottom of the car until the gasket finally blows completely... The oil light coming on that soon is quite strange, I usually only see that light when I know my mileage since my last oil change has been awhile, and its time for a new oil change. So i'm not sure whats happening in your case or how often you drive the X..Also I'd get your oil seperator looked at too..
