Happens to me on my '05 about once a month. I attribute it to typical X5 electronic gremlins.

I know exactly how you feel...It's one of the bug that you either live with or have the dealer disconnect the hood switch. This happens to me every once in a while. Over the course of a couple of years of owning it, I figured that the only way to shut off the siren when this happen is just calmly press the "lock" or "armed" button on the key, then press the "unlock" or "disarmed" button to make it quiet. Nothing else will shut off the siren (unless you just let it blair for a couple of minutes before shutting itself off), including starting the car! So...it doesn't bother me as much now, since I know how to calmly shut off the siren when it goes off for no apparent reason.

Hi guys...
but I have been reading the forum for a little while, just haven't posted. It seems rather unacceptable that there are so many people out there with this problem! I have the same problem and the dealer has done the following to try to correct it with no success: 1. Reprogrammed entire car? (took almost all day) 2. Installed a new General Module for the alarm Who knows what the next step is, but I can tell you this, you all need to complain to your dealer because this is something that more than just one person has a problem with. My old 3 series did not do this. I do have to say that this problem is not the same as the alarm sounding by itself (fixed by disconnecting the hood switch) This problem is the Siren ONLY is sounding when you try to unlock the car. And it won't shut up until you lock and unlock the car. They mentioned to me replacing the siren...guess that may be the next step. My X5 is an '04 3.0, what year are you all having problems with? |

I agree, you all gota be heard. How else BMW is going to fix the issue if no one complains. Let them spend the time and effort to fix it!
