Remove/Replace Glow Plugs

Can anyone tell me or send me a link to first show me where the glow plugs are (3 I believe) and relay for the 3.0d
And secondly how to replace them?

Dealer just advised that I have them replaced.

Should be 6.

In German
http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/aktio...hmentId=598725

The repair document number for the relay: 12 21 500

I have both hard copies in English. Will try and scan.

There is way test which plugs need replacing.
I don't believe all 6 will go out at the same time.
First check the fuses and for power at the glower plugs.

PM me if you have questions.

Thanks, Doesn't tell me how to get to them though, do you know this or does the english version have more details. I'd be interested in how to figure out which need replacing (fault code on dash or something).

BMW service said 3 are ready for replacing so I guess they checked.

Look at the 1st 2 pics in the document it shows you where on the engine the glow plugs are. Look for a plug connector(1st pic) that looks like that

To test:
I would remove them, clamp them to a vice and use a 12 volt battery with jumper cables to make them glow.
Google and you may find another method.

Reason I asked is in the 2 pics there is a threaded bolt above the plug and connector so I'm assuming something has been removed first. If that is case I may not be able to see the were they are on the engine.
