Need some suggestion on why P0170 error code

I got the check engine light on since yesterday. Not sure if it is related or not but I filled the tank about 30mns and 75 miles before that happened. The code error code I get is P0170 which gives "The PCM has determined that during testing, the fuel compensation value for bank 1 exceeded the specified range- Possible causes MAF, Oxygen sensor, Ignition misfire, Fuel Injector problem".

It cannot be the ignition misfire as the engine works perfectly. Did not notice any significant change in the fuel consumption either. I am thinking o2sensor but before changing it I am wondering if it could not be a bad gas. Anyway I will clear the code and see if it comes back.
Any suggestion about what the cause could be is welcome.
Thanks

I have been driven my X for several hundred miles since this code came out. The X has been performing perfectly, the engine idle well, the truck is smooth and I did not notice any change in the fuel consumption. So yesterday I decided to clear the code. I was code free for about 200 miles and until I started the truck this morning and here is the same error code back. Really wondering what that could be. Anybody has a suggestion for me before I start changing parts (MAF, Oxygen sensors, etc...) randomly?
Appreciated
Thanks

Yeah Alpac ... I've been searching to see if I can suggest something but you've already hit on most of the stuff in your post (MAF, O2 sensors, etc.) I was hoping somebody would post something by now too.

I was gonna suggest the gas cap thing but it doesn't seem to be related going by the error code.

You might just have to bite the bullet and let a shop/dealership diagnose it for you.

Good luck and keep us up to date on the resolution.

Check O2 sensor voltage and clean the MAF. If it come back I'd change the MAF. Check for the usual cracks in the intake boots.

I would start here, too. You can clear the codes and let it error again - see if you get the same code (or sometime a secondary error.)

On a toyota 4runner I had, cleaning the MAF fixed it.
Another time, when the O2 actually failed, it would error within 20 miles of clearing the code. How many miles on the X? is it about time to replace the sensors?

I guess I must have fixed the problem as I have been driving the truck for a week and 200 miles and the code did not come back. I started by cleaning the MAF sensor and changed the air filter. That did not fix the issue as the code came back 40 miles later. Then I removed the intake hose from the air filter to the throttle body and cleaned the throttle body with B12 Chemtool spray. The throttle body needed a good cleaning as I got out a lot of black residue after spraying the carb cleaner for some time. I then added Techron fuel line cleaner to an almost empty tank (1/4). The truck iddle was rough for about 1 mn after starting it, probably for the time it took to burn the carb cleaner that remained in the throttle body and fuel line, and then everything was back to normal. The truck feels a little to run a little bit smoother now.
