HELP ! removal of x5 headlamp lens cover

2001
anyone help.

My xenon headlamp covers are knackered.

I picked up another set of headlamps ( not xenon)

As far a i can see the both lens covers are the same.

the lens seems to be stuck hard to the headlamp casing .
Not just with clips.

Is this glued on or ?
Any ideas how to remove lens cover .
thanks.

A bunch of people have done this. Check out the write-up to install angel eyes on the home page. It will show you how to get the headlight open.

PS....where did you buy the covers? Good luck!

You will either have to bake your headlights....."very carefully"

or get an exacto knife and screw driver and pry...

Many of us have baked our headlights on the pre 2003 model E53's .....2003 and beyond ....it just wont work!!

We bake the to open them either to clean them out and get rid of the orange waffles, etc..or to add halo rings....

in your case you want to remove the old "kmackered lenses" and install some new ones...

Make sure the ones you picked up are pre 2003 also.....

i'm sure others will weigh in here..

use the search tool and look up baking headlights...

or just go here

Those headlamps look like they were tint sprayed. It might be easier to remove the spray rather than change the headlights out.

Wow they look pretty rough alright. Id say the light output is pretty poor. How on earth would they have got damaged like that?
Nice X by the way
