PRODUCTION NUMBERS

I know it's here. Everything else is here.

Where's the link to production numbers? - you know, how many 4.4s were built, where, what color and with what options.

PRODUCTION NUMBERS??

Wow - so nobody knows production numbers? BMW doesn't track the number of X5's and associated options produced?

Weasel will become famous soon enough
I'm sure they do on some level, but I have no idea how to find it other than google searching it... which I tried with no results

Search on here, not Google. This is the source for all that is X.

2007: http://www.xoutpost.com/426131-post1.html

Early 2007: http://www.xoutpost.com/276849-post1.html

Fred's reports: http://www.xoutpost.com/390261-post1.html

The last is one of the last posts made by our regular production statistics reporter, FDMeloan. Click on his user name in that post, select "Find all posts by FDMeloan", and you will get a list of all his production statistics reports.

Noobs. (Just kidding)

Your question is pretty complex and I don't think it's even possible to answer. Here are a couple facts you can throw into the mix...

First X5 rolled off production line September 1, 1999.
50,000th X5 was completed in January 2001
100,000th X5 was completed August 29, 2001 (see X5 in Siena Red with Beige Montana leather - went to BMW Canada)
500,000th X5 was completed June 9, 2005 (see X5 in Midnight Blue with Champagne Nappa leather, Maritime edition - went to BMW Germany)
616,867th X5 was completed September 22, 2006. End of production. (see last photo)

Here's some production numbers from a classic car site ...
http://www.78ta.com/production.php

I'd think they'd be able to easily track how many 4.8, 4.4, 3.0 vehicles were made and with what options - sports, premium, etc.

I guess they just track total number of X5's ... the information is out there, maybe they'll release if in 20 years?

Isn't that a Pontiac website?

There are so many options on the X5 I doubt even if BMW would have knowledge as to how each and every car was configured!

Yep - it's a Pontiac sight. They list the engines and transmission options per each year. You'd think BMW would release similar numbers ... at least numbers on the number of base X5's, X5's with the 4.4 and 4.8. I'm curious as to how many 4.8's are out there vs. 3.0 engines.

Anyway, perhaps I'm flogging a dead horse.

You're probably right, they should have basic data like that available. Finding it will be a whole 'nother story. I've long DREAMED about just finding out official details about the euro spec X5's...

Not sure about the dead horse, but did you not look at the links I gave you above? Here is a one of the reports from Fred that I referenced there. You want the X reports, not just the BMW Group reports. These ones don't show the breakdown of options, but they do show a breakdown by engine model, for each month and YTD. Click the link, and open the PDF.

3.0 versions ran around 70% of all X5s for most of the production life of the E53.
