ATTN: Facelifted X5 owners! questions..

To all those with facelifted X5s, I have a couple questions reagrding lighting. As for the headlights, I will need the wiring harnesses but can I use the existing ballasts and HID bulbs from my prefacelift headlights? It is not mentioned in the article on the home page(linked below) so I am wondering. Also will fog light harnesses need to be modified as well? If so, any how to?

Thanks,
Jay

Not sure but my guess is that you will need new stuff as BMW put Dynamic bi-Xenons(assuming you are putting Xenons) on facelift. High beam and low beam are done by same.

Jay,

Not sure if all the face-lift headlights are all adaptive or not but I think you can get ones w/o since I've seen Euro versions w/o. This might not help though ... because ...

I think you'll need to change harnesses. PM weasel as he'll know for sure. Also the article says:

EDIT: "conversion light unit adapter harness is necessary. Available from Zulu95." Another PM.

Good luck and sorry couldn't be more helpful.

BTW ... are you gonna do the PDCs and headlight washers too?

To all -- The fogs light assemblies are transferred to the new bumper as a unit - no wiring mod necessary

Edit - same for headlight washers - even the painted part (horn/spike looking things)

Yay thanks to all your help (bostonblux5, zulu95, twinspoppa, rastafarai, and mrbmwx5) I got all my questions answered regarding the facelift. I talked to my body shop and everything should be coming along smoothly. What is not included in the home page article is that you will need new ballasts as the bi xenon ballasts are a different design. In addition, I will try to have some trimming done on the radiator support (they are different part numbers according to the body shop). I will be sure to have detailed photos and determine what else needs to be done that's not listed in the home page. Paul please give me the heads up on those harnesses. This facelift is going down! =D

ps. Let me know if you guys need parts from my prefacelift. It is steel grey in color and I have everything from the front end, including headlights. Paint is in immaculate condition! Let me know what you need, ill give these away for cheap!
