2001 X5 4.4i sport rear suspension height?????

Good morning all,

Just got the X back from dealer for rear air bag replacement, replaced both rear sensors and passenger side rear bag.

When I picked the X up it seems really, really high off the ground. I called them back and they said it is to spec. It is a standard sport 2001 X5 4.4i with the sport suspension and Xenons. It has the self level rear suspension only, no interior button for adjustment.

Can anyone tell me what the standard rear height should be on my X. We have owned it for 4 years and I don't recall it ever being this high.

Thanks.

suspension height

OK - friday as I was driving to work, after the self level suspension sensor drivers side rear was replaced on Wed. the warning light comes on. Not knowing what to do, I called the local dealer who replaced the bag and ECU a few days prior and made an appointment to take it in.

As I am driving home from work on Friday, the rear end of the car sinks down and the sensor inactive warning disappears from the dash. Can't drive the car all weekend, afraid of bag damage again.

Take car to dealer Monday morning, they determine that the car needs to be reprogrammed again since the sensor change to adjust the ride height after sensor replacement. This sounds strange to me and $130 later, car seems much lower that it was in post #1 (more like normal), but now it seems a little lower that before there was any bag issue.????

Any help with this??????????

where are you bringing it to? which dealer? if the pivot arm of the ride height level sensor is installed wrong, the ride height will be off and the warning will come on. also, if they broke the clip off the airbag, the thing will leak air like a motherfu$%^ and cause the warning to come on, also there is a precheck that can be delayed by the ECU because of interference from the Radio. this is done as a test plan. 2001 x5 4.4i single axle air spring ride height rear

BMW - Orland Park IL
19" wheels

It does still seem a little low. I will need to measure - where do I measure so that we are talking apples to apples

It does have the sport suspension if that matters

So from the bottom of the rim to the bottom of wheel arch (black plastic strip) should be 708 mm or 27.8 inches.

I actually just measured,, I have 18" wheels not 19 my typing mistake
I actually measure from the bottom of wheel rim (closest to ground) to bottom of black plastic 28.25 inches.

MM is fine - I do the conversion. So as long as the MM you indicated above is correct then I am within the ranges.

Thanks for your help

sometimes its just the fuse!!!!
to check if air pump is functionning correctly, turn off the car... open trunk as couple freriends to sit on trunk after lifting the spare tire cover and after turning the ignition on.... u shud see the car self levellin and hear the pump sitting below the spare tire.
if car still sits low after turnin the key on with ur friends on back... check the fuse
