Bluetooth Phone Issue

I just picked up my 2004 3.0d Sport X5 and it is awesome.

But I have one issue, I have paired the Bluetooth system with my 2nd Gen iPhone. The pairing works fine with phonebook and dialing, however I can't seem to get the microphone to work and no one can hear me talking.

Is their a way to turn up the mic volume or activate the mic in anyway which I am missing?

I had a similar problem, I tried everything and in the end discovered that the noise cancelling microphone had failed.
Try pairing another phone to see what happens.

I-phone gives you an option of speaker, iphone, or BMW123 (bluetooth setting). Make sure you are on the bluetooth setting. This option is controlled by the phone itself.
My two bits!

OK, I have tried this with my mates Crackberry and still have the same problem.

I have figured out that the repair shop has installed the Sunroof switch back to front and think the mic may be the same. How do I dismantle this console? I don't have BMW Assist either.

Scroll down this thread to post #5: http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...oth-phone.html for overhead console removal and stuff on the mic including correct orientation of the unit. Light unit comes out pretty easy, just don't force anything and break it. Let us know how you get on.

Issue resolved, dopey guys that fixed the sunroof not only installed the sunroof switch the wrong way around, they didn't plug the mic in at all!

Two things, make sure the microphone is installed in the correct orientation and note that there is an updated microphone that is better, make sure you have that one.

Was your X in at a BMW dealer or an indy shop?

Good to see all resolved

Workk was done at an Indy shop prior to buying the car!

How do I tell if the mic is orientated correctly?

I just reread some of the attachment on post #5 and it says: Install microphone assembly into headliner so that arrow on microphone points towards front of vehicle. What it doesn't say is, if the arrow is up or down, but common sense tells me that the arrow would be down otherwise what the hell use is it? Maybe Meister knows..
