My X5 is a 05/05 build. I wonder if I have the latest tranny software? How can I find out?

mfrymier - do you have any more details on this? I'ld like to call my dealer and see if they can do this, but i'ld rather not call them up blind and say "hey i read on a message board that... blah blah" .

Thanks

Thumbs up Great news!!

I've bought my X5 3.0D 3 weeks ago and I am soooo happy with it. But there is this issue about hessitation on a STOP. I was so worried about it until I read your post. Thanks a lot on the info and as soon as you know more details please post them here.

Best regards to all from Spain :-)

Hey,
Good luck with the fix it software. I have an earlier model
X5 3.0,01. Love drives like a monster.
So where do you hail from in Spain? I am planning a trip
in the spring and can't wait to drive the backroads of Spain.
Any favorite places to drive? Unfortunately I can only find
Mercedes convertibles for exotic rental. No beammers.

I hope you appreciate my post count sacrifice here

There is a SIB dated May 2005 concerning the aggressive downshift clunk that causes the sensation of being "rear ended".

The last episode in my X5 was so forceful, I thought the lady in the minivan must have hit me so I memorized her front plate number just in case. Needless to say, she never touched my butt.

If anybody still experiences the aggressive downshift clunk, you should explain what is wrong to your service advisor and request the GKE software update per SM 24-202-05.

They should then check the software number for the DME. If it does not match the SM, the DME will need to be programmed with the latest software version.

Since I am a professional lurker, I cannot answer any questions about this update because my post total would increase and I could lose my lurker status. Good luck and goodnight.
