One off window/door handle prob, please help

Window switch unit: 2 x small switch connections are very hard to remove, I don't want to break anything, large one came out easy.

push down the locking tap (dont kwon what to call it)and push the lock to you left .

The way the door handle looks in the picture it almost appears like the door handle carrier unit is broken. butundo is correct, that cover cap just comes right off (there are clips on the top and bottom holding it in place, be careful not to break them off). The article referenced above tells you everything you need to know about the whole mechanism. I just replace my passenger side unit a few weeks ago and used that article to get me through it.

Yes, it does look like the symptoms of a broken carrier, but since we know something was caught in the handle, hopefully that will solve the issue. I also just replaced my carrier just a few days ago, and that article really helped.

Got everything off finally. Inner foam cover took the longest as I didn't want to tear it. Thinking about it now I reckon it would've been a good idea to use a hair dryer to soften the worlds most stickiest & toughest product, that sticks like shit to a blanket.

Looking at the carrier from inside the door didn't give me a clear answer to the problem, as I couldn't see anything cracked or broken. It appears however that part of the door handle locking system that traverses across past the window edge is rubbing against the side of the window pane, which is still stuck in an open position.

I thought about pulling out the carrier but can't get to it (inside) with the window stuck down so I have reluctantly taken the car to my indy. He told me that the window would be covered by warranty and I'd have to pay for the handle. He went on to say that in his experience BMW handles are prone to breakage and or the same problem that I've got because folks not familiar try to pull the handle out rather than up, this eventually causes too much stress on the intricate workings of the handle and it fails.

Thanks to all for your input, I'm sorry that I was not able to complete repairs myself. Threads on trim removal were invaluable.

PS: I located the small light for the interior handle, unwrapped it and had it ready to connect however as time was getting away I decided to shelve it and get on with fixing the original problems.
