tinted windows

want to tint windows on my x but one place told me that they have to remove the door panels because the tolerance between the window and rubber(where the window goes into the door) is tight...another place told me that they would try not to but no guarantee..i just dont like anyone removing my door panels because i know that they will never be replaced the same way..any opinions...any facts that members with tint know if there door panels were removed..both shops are reputable and have been around a long time..thanks rob

If you go to a good shop there shouldnt be a problem with removing the door panels...

I had my windows tinted about 3+ years ago. they removed my door panels all around because they claimed it was the only way they would stand behind thier quality of work (to do it right). I haven't had any related problems with with the panels or tint so far..

I would make sure the shop is legit and does quality work.. (as I do before anybody touches the X) and if they do, go for it.
my 2cts

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I've had many cars tinted, including 3 and 5 series as well as the X5, no door panels were ever been removed. Make sure the shop is reputable.

Do inspect the edges however after the work is done, I had an issue once where the rubber surround was carelessly nicked by a blade. This is probably the most common thing to watch out for.

Find the best shop in town, pay the 25.00 extra per window. It will pay off in spades down the road.

This is not a 'shopper' item.
