Halo Headlights / Check Park Lights

lo all,

I fitted Halo headlights recently, and intermittently on the dash it comes up check park lights.

Any ideas what this could be? Maybe just a loose connection on the wiring?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

James

If they are CCFL style rings, then you should try to relocate the igniters. They are causing some interference with the electrical system.

Thanks for the reply.

I am not sure if they are CCFL rings, I dont know how you can tell. I dont think they are.

If not, any other ideas what it could be?

When engine is turned off, drivers side parking lights come on, but intermittently the passenger side one doesnt always come on and sometimes the indicator bulb flashes?

Thanks

A few questions:

1) What year is your X?

2) Did you replace the whole headlights, or just install angel eyes?

3) Where did you get your headlights or angel eyes?

4) Does that mean with no key in the ignition and the light switch on, right? I assume it doesn't light up if the light switch is off.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.

1. 2003 X5
2. I replaced the whole headlight units.
3. I got them off ebay.

I am thinking its just a loose connection because its intermittent, is there anything I can check. it seems to be the passenger side thats the problem?

Thanks

If it came with install instructions and you wired it correctly, I would think that its just a loose connection or a crossed wire. Its hard not knowing how its supposd to be wired. Might also check the bulbs as that could be the problem. Switch the bulb from the other side and see if the same thing happens.

Yeh.

All the bulbs are new apart from the indicator bulbs which are a funny connection?

I am right in thinking that the park lights are those when the engine is turned off and you leave the indicator on?

I am gonna re-check the wiring again. Like I say its intermittent. Sometimes it comes on when starting the engine, sometimes it flashes when driving and then sometimes when you turn the engine off.

You mind posting a link to the same ebay headlights you got? I'm sure someone here probably has the same headlights and could help.

Here is a link below of the same headlights I believe:

BMW X5 E53 BLACK PROJECTOR ANGEL EYE HEADLIGHTS E MARK on eBay, also Lighting Customisation, Lights Lighting Accessories, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 21-Mar-09 05:48:00 GMT)

If anyone has the same and has instructions on how to wire them I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Okay, most people here don't have that style headlights. However, I think I saw at least one person having those here.

1) Did it come with instructions at all?

2) You're having problem with the light at the outside corner, right? Thats usually the parking light. Or are you referring to those small row of lights at the top? Are those your turn signals?

3) You said that it has a funny connector? Can you take a pic?

4) Those look like LED lit angel eyes not CCFL.

Sometimes LED bulbs will give errors but not sure if that's your case.
