Actually if I am understanding what everyone is trying to do in this thread it was easy to do on the wifes e53. I duplicated the wiring kit that is in my 323i that runs the angel eyes on it.

When you turn the key on the ae's come on and when you turn the key off they go off. When the dome light comes on they turn on for that too. So you can use them as a walk to the car light too.

I need to find the diagram I made for it and post it.

This is the only diagram I could find that shows how I have them wired basically.

I need to get the number off the relay I used and show pics of it. I coded the ae's to not do a bulb check so no warning issues from removing them from the factory wiring.

Pretty sure you can achieve the same result with just four diodes,

as per this thread...

So I was unable to code with PA Soft to make my AE's as DRL's, there is no option for it.

I also came across this:

Easily Find Car Accessory Power with SourcePWR® from Rostra

This would make it very straght forward (I know the DIY here alread is) but this would allow RAP so it could have the them stay on for whatever time you want after you shut off the car and even make them come on as soon as you unlock the car which what I miss about it from my E70 days.

Very cool device. I'm not sure how much it costs but most of what it does can be replicated with the relay installation. Unless you wanted your halos to stay on after locking the truck for an extended period of time. That looks to be the only difference between the two installations that I can think of. I guess you can use any 12v constant to power it and it senses system voltage change when the vehicle is started to create an ACC power source?

At any rate, will have to keep that in mind for later projects.

DIY - Wiring Facelift (2004 -06) Angel Eyes as DRLs

Relay still needs constant 12v plus a switched 12v.

This eliminates that and just needs constant 12v.

So wiring would just be from the 12v terminal on the firewall cowl and a ground.

It’s pretty cheap, like $30 for a pack of 10.
