![]() on the other hand, if anyone can get by without high beams (I don't think it is even legal or safe!!!), there is a way to get the AEs to be on as DRL... you will need to gain access to the LCM, that is on the right A-pillar of the LHD cars, locate the connectors X10117, X38 and X12 - the X12 is the one with round pins (similar to the trailer module pins), the X10117 is the middle connector, and the X38 is on top on the RHD cars and on the bottom on the LHD cars. on connector X38, remove the pin from slot 6 and insulate it out of the way on connector X12, remove the pin from slot 13 and insulate it out of way On connector X10117, remove pin 18 and install it into open slot of pin 6 of X38 On connector X12, remove pin 3 and install it into open slot of pin 13 of X12 It will so happen, that the pins on the X10117 will be different from the pins on X38 - at this point you would need to replace a small rectangular pin from X10117 with a larger, round pin for X38 (BMW part 61131376202). After doing this hardware switch, you will need to pull out your programming software and turn the DRL on, at full, 100% intensity. The result will be, the DLR voltage will be supplied to the AE light bulbs but... But, the high beams will be totally disconnected!!! Naturally, when the DLR are off (because the regular lights are on), the AEs will turn off... I would say, the best way is what was talked about earlier in this thread, when you just connect ignition on power to the AEs and totally disconnect the AE power from the LCM...

Yeah all that pin swapping would give an Asprin a headache, so I won't be doing that - plus as you said, no highbeams is illegal and also impractical. How am I gonna be a douchebag BMW driver if I can't highbeam someone?!
I will do the relay with ECU as trigger wire to pin 30 on the relay to ensure DRL on. However, I like the idea of making them fade on/off with the interior lights in addition to DRL on. Can I just run a trigger wire off the +ve footwell to the same pin 30 on the relay?

Here's another one with the pins labeled, but disregard the switch part... unless you want a switch to control it too.

Here you go .. I haven't installed it yet because I'm not sure what to do with the stock connectors for each side.
I do not want to just leave it disconnected because then I will have Check Side Light message on all the time .This harness comes with a nice switch. |

You have to connect to the original wires a 100ohm 3 watts resistance. One for each side. You will not get any errors.
