TP, great write up boss, looks like its a easy job to do just a little taping and a little wire running, quick question, what gague wire did you use for running the power from the AE's to the "big green ignition" wire?

Great looking forward to it!

I can definitely relate. I installed my RBs and flares overnight and into the next morning. It was dark, raining, cold and I was exhausted too!

If I'm not mistaken I used 18-22 gauge, solid copper wire. The actuall AE wires in the harness are so thin I don't think you can go wrong. I didn't see any stranded wire at RadioShack but I don't think it would be a problem using it either.

I didn't do any splicing, as in, exposed wire and just tape over. While at RadioShack I got the proper connectors. Like the taps that clamp onto the wire then you attach another piece to the connecting wire. Then that connector inserts into the other one.

I'll have pics later but hopefully that helps.

It deffinitly does, I think the taps are called t-taps, they snap onto the existing wire and have a opening on the bottom of the T for the new wire.

What is the risk of running power from this green ignition wire?
I sure need the pictures

Thanks and please update with more details.

Sorry but I have no idea. Those LEDs are supposed to be low power so I don't THINK there's much to worry about. Again, not great with wiring and such but I think if you put inline fuses that should cover you.

About the pics, might take a while as I didn't take the time to take pics as I did it. Its no big deal for most of it except the area you're talking about - the ignition wire. I'll have to remove all the lower dash pieces again. I'll try to get the pics up soon.

True my iBrights are LED's; I guess I should check how many amps they draw.

When you find out let me know too since that's what I also have.
