You will not be disappointing as long as you know what you're getting, this is no M! Worst thing ever said about my E53...."..why did you buy a mini-van?"
Granted no M3 is gonna be mistaken for a mini-van ... but the X! Come-on ... even not paying attention I don't think most are gonna mistake it as a mini-van.

Also did this - went from a E46M3 (track prepped) to a 06-4.4, with a brief 2 year mental lapse with a hemi Grand Cherokee.

M3 was too fun! I actually shed a tear when I sold it. However, whenever you have to do anything that requires 'utility', you will cringe to use it. I put a bike rack on it, and it was cool looking, but I was in constant worry all the time. Snow was no problem with winter tires, as it had a limited slip rear

The X5 is fun, yet more comfy. You don't have to cringe at the sight of a pothole (well, less) and you can comfortably drive around passengers. I love to drive, and always prefer to be the driver.

You won't be disappointed with the X5 - the M3, you will need another car.

minivan???

it is NOT a minivan, it IS a station wagon. all SUV's, minivans, 'touring', crossovers, ARE station wagons.

OK so it doesn't have the woody option, but we can fix that.....

get the 4.8, OR 4.6 for that matter since they can be had for less money. I'm a former M3 owner and the X5 is a great compromise between fun, styling, and utility. It will never replace the driving experience the M3 offered but for now I'm very happy with it. O just a tip, get a flashy color it makes it that much more fun. :-)

Can an M3 not pull a couple jet skis? How much does a jet ski weigh?

I"m sure an M3 could, but if you're willing to attach a tow hitch to an M3 you don't deserve to own one IMO

iamadam says he was thinking of M3 so if you have not had one then you won`t miss it , what have you been driving , i have driven many 3 series , 5 series and 7 series , X3 3.0i , X5 4.4i se , X5 4.4i sport, all very good comfortable cars and each had different characteristics . i prefer 7 series for outstanding comfort , 5 series for comfort and driving fun , X5 is outstanding machine for what it is , my friends call it a chelsea tractor but i call it a sports tractor , feels a bit like standing on a trapeze rather than sitting on one due to higher centre of gravity . not to be driven as enthusiastically as saloon car . have fun .
