fan/blower stays on when car is off

any help here? after i shut off my car my fan will continue to bliow until my battery dies. while the car is on the fan settings and blower speed are accurate, the only problem is after the car is shut off, it continues to run. any ideas?

also, any idea what the indicator "trans failsafe off" means? it pops up once every 30 drives or so. when it happens the car slowly gets dim until it dies while driving. after i wait ten minutes or so and restart, the indicator lights go off and its back to normal..

thanks guys.

Yup, That's the one.

Now, the only thing I'd add from personal experience; have your battery checked and do one of two things:

1. Replace your battery if it's too weak.

2. Get a trickle charger and recharge the batter for 24 hours at 2Amps.

When my final stage resistor went, within the 3 weeks it took for me to see a pattern in the battery being drained, take it to the dealer, spend a few hundred on the dealer to tell me that the car is fine, and then take about 4-5 days to figure it out and fix it on my own thanks to the X5world forum, well, in that time the battery took a beating of being completely drained many many times.

So the local indy battery shop told me to replace it because the battery is weakened or at least give it a 24 hour charge (as opposed to driving it around for 30 minutes to recharge it).

Btw, IMO getting a trickle charger is money well spent if you get proper cold winters.

Hey thanks for the tip. My resistor went too and caused me major headaches.

I agree with the FSR. Also, when mine was starting to go, after numerous battery charges it finally started to go as well. A low battery will also cause your Trans Failsafe Error. New FSR and battery and all was fine. I would say that the two are more than likely related.
