What exhaust tips you would recommend for stock 3.0i X5 2002 exhaust?

I have BMW x5 3.0i 2002 with stock ugly exhaust.

I am plannign to change only the tips,as don't have enought money to buy whole wxhaust and don't see any benefit to have whole new exhaust on 3.0i

Well anyway? What exhaust tips will look nice on stock mufflers? Will it chnage sound a bit as it will be straight not cuved ?

I saw on ebay ACS exhaust tips for 80$ a piece, what you guys think?

Yeah, I'm feeling you with the boring stock 3.0 tips. Try typing in 'exhaust tips' in the Search option, 20 pages will come up, or you can maybe try '4.4, 4.6 or 4.8 exhaust tips'. Tons of research to go through. I also found this on the Home page: 4.6is Exhaust on a 3.0i it's something to start with maybe.

I'm in the same boat and will look at options later in the year. I think my preference will be for chrome 4.6 tips. In the mean time I just polished mine back to a nice shiny stainless steel finish.

Apologies to revive an old thread... just wondering if the downward pointing exhaust on the 3.0i are just the tips, or part of the silencer system (if I change the tips will they still be pointing down?)

I put the 4.8iS axle back exhaust on mine, looks great. Go to a muffler shop and have them chop out the old mufflers and weld on some nice quad tips or something

Also, the 4.4i exhaust sections should bolt right up if you can find them from a wrecked X

Or just have the old tips cut and new ones welded on like tmv did on his old X

Do you think the 4.4s would change the sound a little? I haven't found squat locally for is'.

I feel many people have the same issue with the stock exahust tips pointing downwards to be annoying but interested to see others who have made changes to them

It won't change the sound at all unfortunately (the 4.4i) - my 4.8iS makes it a touch throatier and deeper but not by much, because of the larger piping and more open mufflers. Even the 4.6iS mufflers were not throatier and were same as the 4.4 in regards to sound.

You could always do an Xpipe on the stock exhaust and just put on whatever tips you wanted as well. I'm personally not looking for much more sound out of mine though, its quiet enough but has an OEM+ growl, and to have a loud 3 ton X which has 225 hp is just silly lol

I agree, that's why I don't want to put any aftermarket mufflers on it. I think you have a good setup with the filter and is mufflers. I have seen two is' being parted out locally over the past year but neither would respond.
