Comfort Luxury / Sport Seats

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am looking for the right X5 for my wife and I.
Drove two yesterday, 2005 4.8 and 3.0 just to see the range. One item I'm unsure of and my question is: Were there Luxury "Comfort" seats with the full back controls as well as a Sport version (with the same super controls)? Or were all of the top seat option sport. My wife found the 4.8 sport seats too firm.
Secondly, do all Comfort seats have the full controls or are there more than one control option for them.

4.8's came standard with the sport seats, but the comfort seats were a no-cost option.

Not sure about differences in overall firmness, but the comfort seats have less bolstering for the thighs and back, and delete the leg support extension in the front of the seat. In turn, they add a hinge point in the middle of the back rest, so the top of the back rest can articulate separately from the bottom.

One word about firmness.....a lot of people who have never sat in a BMW seat think they are "too firm" when they first try them. The reality is that there is a ton of ergonomic thought put into support, foam density, etc----I have a horrible back, and I find them to be the best seats in the business. Typically I've found that people who found them too firm at first blush are amazed just how good they feel after taking a long trip on those same firm seats.

That Lexus (just as an example) seat that feels like your favorite cushy recliner on the test drive, will wear your back out on a 4-6 hour trip.

To be a little more clear, did Comfort seats come with the upper back articulating control? Or was that on Sport seats only?

I thought the upper back articulation was only on the Comfort Seats?!

I believe that not all sports seats came with lumbar support, but all comfort seats did. (Someone correct me if I'm off on it) You should pay attention to that b/c it certainly makes the sport seats more comfortable IMHO. Also, if you can, you should try out the standard seats just for comparison.

too bad they didn't put in SPORT COMFORT seats like the ones I have in my 740. Its just the PERFECT blend! I don't know who is in charge of this stuff at BMW but its seems like there are some inconsistencies amongst the teams that designed the cars. Small stuff, but still, if you own a few, you'll notice.
