Un-freaking-real. Where in NY did you park? Seems like this sort of thing is getting worse all the time. As someone noted above, there was a recent thread about it:

You might be able to do better on price, what p/n's did your dealer give you?

Funny thing about this guys article... he's from Ridgewood and i'm from Middle Village which is literally the town right next door. Also, it's not like X5's are rare around here. Just on my way to work, i'll see about 2 or 3 parked on the street. It's not uncommon to see X5's parked and driving whever I go. I guess I was just the easy target this time around. From now on, i'll just have to park the X5 on the driveway.

I'm from Queens. And G35's are so common around here as well. My next door neighbor himself has a G35 coupe. He's got chrome rims and he seems to keep it a little flashy. He parks that on the street at times as well and no problems at all. Also, the block right behind me, there is this Silver Gray E70 X5 with the Sport Package (20's) and he parks it on the street almost all the time. I guess I was just some random target.

Amazing info. Make sure you get the electrochrome mirror setup if you don't already have it. Consider even getting the euro wide angle mirror glass.

Got a call from Hassel BMW this morning and as some of you know i'm getting my driver's side mirror fixed.

The SA called me and told me the mirror will cost $1500!!! I'm guessing that will include labor and the mirror cover being painted... etc. That's is a pretty damn expensive mirror!! That's highway robbery!!

I went through my insurance who said my comprehensive will cover that but I do have a $500 dollar deductable... but one thing the Dealer told me. THEY said that they don't do the "insurance thing" like that and that I pay for the whole thing, then I send the repair bill or what not to the Insurance company for my reimbursement. Are they joking me??

I did call my insurance agent and he told me that's . Of course most insurance would like to hear estimates before anything. So I gave my insurance agent my SA's number at Hassel and told him to call me if anything. He didn't call me back so I assume everything went fine. Anyway, i'll call tomorrow for an update.
