Is it too late to buy Extended Maintenance from BMW?

I have a 2003 X5 with only 40K miles (I haven't used much, other than casual weekend rides. It was sitting for 2 and a half years). My green light is at 2 and I need to do brakes (all around) soon. I am under 60K but over 5 years. Am I still eligible for the Extended Maintenance? It would be great if I can buy that so the brakes and inspection II are covered.

Thank you in advance.

I posted a ton of info on this, a search will answer your questions well.

However, to give you a quick answer, it's too late. The cut off for extended maintenance with extended enrollment is 5 years/60,000 miles.

Thank you for your response. Funny, as I actually read your post before I posted my question. Your post said "BMW still offers the extended enrollment option for cars that are no longer within 4 years / 50,000, BUT still within 5 years or 60,000 miles." If it is 5 years OR 60K miles, I should be qualified, no? If the statement is 5 years or 60K miles, whichever is the earliest, then I have a problem. From your response, I am guessing "whichever the earliest" is the case here.

On an unrelated note, I wonder whether I should trade my X5 up for a newer model. As I mentioned Inspection II is coming up; I need all around brakes; and probably 4 new tires this summer. Will also need to re-tint the vehicle and change driver side rear view mirror as well. Should I just do all these or should I use money to upgrade my vehicle so I am once again under 4 years/50K program. Thoughts?

Hey you have a good point and you got me! I tried to make the post as clear as possible, but unfortunately still left some ambiguity. Sorry about that I'll fix it. I also included all the relevant attachments so anyone can read about it themselves. But to answer your good point, BMW always considers whichever has expired first, whether it's been 5 years or 60,000 miles. It's too bad, b/c I think it would have been a kick-ass deal for you.

As far as trade in is concerned, if I were you I'd look around to see what interests you and see what you can get for your money and consider what the car has already cost you and what it might cost you in the future to maintain. Resale/trade in isn't great, but maybe buying a CPO with low miles is more cost effective for you. Sounds like a numbers game to me.

Thanks. I called BMWNA today and they confirmed that it was whichever comes first. The rep also told me there was supposedly an extra year of grace period, after the expiration. Who knew? (I don't expect a hard sell but it would have been nice if they sent me a reminder postcard or something. None of the dealers I went to mentioned this.)

In case I was lying, huh?

Yes the extra grace period is called the extended enrollment option, like I said before.

Don't expect anything special from the dealers even if they are desperate for business. If they did their job perfectly there wouldn't be much need for boards like this.

I personally would prefer to find a local independent shop and have them do the parts of the maintenance that I can't do myself. I think I would still come out ahead of what I would have to pay BMW for that extended maintenance program.
