Sat Nav

lo all,

I was wondering if it was possible to have the OEM bmw sat nav fitted into an X5 that doesnt have the sat nav built in.

Obviously there would have to be some changes to the dash, but if I was able to get hold of one, could it be fitted?

Regards,

James

Has anybody done this job?

Got hold of the BMW OEM built in sat nav and fitted it into an X5 without Sat Nav?

Would an auto-electrician fit it for you?

So the tape player and radio can come straight out, and can be directly replaced with the 16:9 screen?

Has anybody done this, and can I do it myself, or would it need an auto-electrician?

Look up at the top of the page, click "home"....then scroll down to the navigation section----you'll see several articles from people who have done it and documented it in incredible detail.

An hour? Did you read the attached PDF above? It says an estimated 7.5 hours?

Bimmernav reports the retrofit to take 6 hours.

He's joking (and badly). 7.5 hours is if you know exactly what you are doing and have done it before. Try a day or two if you don't and then you still better keep your fingers crossed. Don't forget that you'll need to have it coded by the dealer as well, which will cost you 1-2 hours of labor.

You're looking at major surgery in rewiring your car. Personally, I'd buy another car.

LMAO. Yeah it can be a pain i've heard but many have done it. So it depends how good you are with cars. i'd guess if you're asking, you're not good enough to do yourself lol. But people have done it.. i've ordered mine and will be doing it soon.. sending it to my electric mech.
