Please welcome an old but good one!

Hello, I'm the newest member to this forum, albeit with the oldest X5. I just sprung for a CPO 2000 Oxford Green 4.4. Believe it or not, it only has 27K miles on it, as it sat in someone's garage for 3 years! I spent a whole week negotiating with the dealership and talked them down from $28K to $25K and will be picking up the X5 tomorrow.

The X seems to be a great shape and surprisingly, for a Nov. 1999 production model, has xenons, which was a must for me. Only two things I'm little disappointed with -- tape deck and no heated seats (see pix).

Tape deck? No problem at all. You can order the BMW Business CD and put it in there.
However, heated seats would be a problem because no one has done the heated seat retrofit before

One thing you want to make sure is the X5 is up to date with all the recalls and TSB's. Ask the service dept to print you the service history for the vehicle.

Congrats and welcome to x5world!

welcome...I have my X5 3.0d for 3 days now and couldn't be happier (I come from a 320d). Mine also came with just a tape deck but I already bought a complete widescreen/mk4/tv/cd changer navigation and it will be installed in a week or two. You don't have to stick with the tape deck

Welcome! The 2000 model is just as good as any other model. As the others have mentioned, you can fix your CD player problem easily. The heated seats....well I'd advise sheapskin covers for the winter. Heated seats are big bucks to retrofit.

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome!

only 27K miles, huh? Wow, I have more than that on my '03!

Welcome! You will find this board is full of nice people who will readily help you out.

The tape deck can be replaced easily with either a "Business CD" unit, or an MD player. For more info, check out all possible parts at:

www.realoem.com

27000 miles is very little! My CPO 2002 4.4i had 33000 miles when I bought her, and now she's pushing past 40000 miles!

Have many more happy miles ahead.

EDIT: I just noticed that while you don't have the CD, you have the Audiophile system (DSP). You're not doing bad then, at all!

Not sure what retail prices are for the CD unit, but here's one currently on eBay - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

Welcome to X5world! Sounds like you got a cherry of an X5. No worries about the tape/CD thing as you can see from the other responses that you can swap that out. Be sure to check out The Lounge too.
