getting service records for X5?

i just bought a used X5 and the BMW dealerships are telling me that the service information is private, how can i obtain the service records for my car when it was serviced at BMW?

i also bought my X from a private dealer...

the only difference i can see is, when i asked for the service report, i was at the dealer personally (for an appointment), meaning, they are sure im the new owner and the are getting business from me...

That would be a good start. Also call BMWNA and make sure they have you listed as the owner. I called them asking for something and they changed me over in their system as the new owner. It took about 30 seconds.

The X5 we just bought was always serviced at the dealer. The Carfax shows every visit from when it was new to when it was traded in at 80,000.

I bought mine at an auction and took it to a dealer 600 miles away and had no problem pulling up the service record of the car.

I agree or better yet, schedule a service visit with a BMW dealer and ask the service advisor to give you a printout.
