There are a few DIY threads about this topic in here.
I had the same issue - compemplated the DIY fixes, but instead just left the car in the direct sunlight and let good ol'Sol take care of that moisture. Your entire light assembly is sealed and one of the DIY fixes involves cooking your lights in the oven to melt the glue (eek!). |

I have not done this on my X5[specifically on inside the head light fixture...Moisture creates a lot of issues not only on appearance or look, its a major cause of malfunction of elctric/electronic components/circuitry-meaning our toys will not working properly. But anyway moisture can be absorb by a silica gel. If you noticed when you open a box on most electronic gadgets...you will see a small white bag inside [like a tea bag]or bigger, and when you feel it...like a pillets of broken glasses. These are silica gels. Intend to absorb moisture. I used these stuffs on the airfield lighting fixtures on runways,to minimize or avoid moisture on extreme weather condition.
I placed some silica gel around my engine compartment and so inside the car. I almost put a silica gel on most switches and sensors of the X5. By the way, blue color shows moisture was absorb.Pink or reddish color-is in normal state. Once it turns to blue just heat it toe frying and it can be use again. This is better than baking the whole fixture of the headlight. VIMX5 |

It sounded like a complicated job here. I have heard that BMW dealer have list of advertisement phone and information of people who restore headlights moisture. Is it true? I have looked at both of them and i dont think i can DIY.

Uhh ... don't bake your headlights please.
Please do a search for other tips on this topic. Here's one to start you off from the homepage. I would familiarize yourself with the homepage and the search function. Good Luck! http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/l...eadlights.html |

the "solution" I got from BMW was to run with the headlights on high beam during the day - It must be inside the sealed beam. If it were due to a break in the seal, my time in Idaho's extremely dry air would have drawn all the moisture out. But then I've run long periods without moisture, only to see it come back after heavy rain. So maybe the seal is broken. ???
